Bruce Trinkley Award

The late Jack Platt (’37 B.S. and ’40 M.Ed. Music Ed.) created the Bruce Trinkley award to honor our longtime director Bruce Trinkley. The award recognizes rising seniors of the Glee Club who exemplify Bruce’s love for choral singing and tireless service he gave to our organization throughout his tenure as director. Split into “The Award for Musicality”, and “The Award for Service” the timeless spirit of Bruce lives on through this wonderful scholarship.

Frank Gullo Scholarship Fund

Gullo 1988In 2002, Penn State lost a great teacher, an inspiring musician and a warm-hearted friend in Frank Gullo. Under Frank’s guidance, twenty-five years of Glee Clubbers shared the glory of Old State in the brotherhood of song. To assure that Frank’s legacy lives on forever, the Frank Gullo Scholarship Fund was established to provide scholarships to voice majors who sing in the Glee Club. This lasting tribute to the life and work of a great Penn Stater was achieved by creating an endowment of $50,000. Changes in Penn State’s endowment procedures means that the endowment now has the purchasing power of $100,000! We challenge each class who sang under Frank to continue to support this endowment. And for those pioneers who sang under Dean Grant and those rookies who have sung with Bruce and Dr. Kiver, know that your contribution to the Frank Gullo Scholarship Endowment will help ensure the future and continuing excellence of the Glee Club.
